TUSCON, AZ (October 4, 2024) – Today, Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro toured Raytheon Technologies (RTX) to discuss advancements in naval capabilities. This high-level meeting focused on production timelines and future technology innovations.

During the visit, Secretary Del Toro conferred with top Raytheon executives, including Barbara Borgonovi, Gina Cunningham, and Gerard Hueber. The discussions highlighted the importance of sustaining a robust defense industrial base.

The Secretary stressed the need for ongoing investments to maintain maritime dominance. He mentioned the successful deployment of U.S. Navy systems in international waters as a testament to their effectiveness. Del Toro reminded observers of the Navy’s formidable capabilities.

“Our Navy and Marine Corps team is unmatched in deploying advanced naval weapons systems,” Del Toro asserted. He outlined investments needed to deter rivals and highlighted the Navy’s forthcoming demonstration of rearming at sea.

Del Toro was updated on critical programs such as the Standard Missile family and the AN/SPY-6 radar. The focus included expanding SM-6 Block IA production and ensuring robust countermeasures against unmanned aircraft threats.

The visit underscored the necessity of a resilient defense sector. Secretary Del Toro left confident in Raytheon’s dedication to delivering solutions aligned with the Navy’s goals.
