SECNAV Carlos Del Toro’s High-Profile Visit to NSA Bahrain
Navy Secretary Carlos Del Toro engaged in a series of high-level meetings and visits as he toured various military facilities and ships. During these engagements, he met with key leaders, service members, and government civilians, concluding his visit with an all-hands call at the base gym.
“Thank you to each and every one of you for what you have done to serve our Navy, our Marine Corps, our Department of Defense, and our nation,” Del Toro remarked. He acknowledged the choice all service members made to serve their country, highlighting their invaluable contributions.
The all-hands call provided Del Toro an opportunity to reflect on his service years and commend the team for their dedication. He discussed the Chief of Naval Operations’ NAVPLAN, addressed Navy retention, and supported service members during their tenure.
Expressing pride, Del Toro stated, “I’m proud of our Sailors, Marines, and Merchant Mariners who are serving aboard aircraft carriers, amphibious ships, cruisers, destroyers, combat logistics ships, and watch floors in this critical region. You are American heroes!”
Questions regarding quality of life and service opportunities were addressed by personnel before the session concluded, ensuring they had a voice on pressing issues.
Del Toro’s appointment as the 78th Secretary of the Navy took effect on August 9, 2021. Previously, he served in the United States Navy as a surface warfare officer for 22 years before transitioning to the private sector in 2005.
