SECNAV Del Toro and Mayor Adams Unveil Global Naval Review 250

Washington, D.C., New York City, NY – Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro and New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced on August 29th that the Navy and the City of New York will host International Naval Review 250 (INR 250) from July 3rd through July 8th, 2026.

“There’s no better place to celebrate 250 years of American history than in New York City’s harbor,” stated Mayor Adams. He highlighted New York City’s historical significance as an unmatched international port, fostering economic growth and welcoming diverse cultures from around the world.

INR 250 will be an integral part of the Semiquincentennial celebration of the United States, emphasizing America’s commitment to maritime security, economic vitality, and freedom of the seas. This event will honor the enduring role of the Navy in defending American shores and supporting international trade since the country’s inception.

Commissioner James W. Hendon of the NYC Department of Veterans’ Services echoed these sentiments, noting New York City’s historical maritime contributions and its ongoing role in international naval partnerships. “Hosting INR 250 proves that New York City remains a gateway to global trade and maritime innovation,” Hendon said.

The event will also serve to reflect on the United States’ maritime heritage, achievements, and sacrifices. INR 250 will offer a unique opportunity to appreciate the nation’s connection to the sea, which has been vital since the early days of American exploration and independence.

“For 250 years, our Navy and Marine Corps Team has advanced maritime statecraft on behalf of our nation,” said Secretary Del Toro. He emphasized the Navy’s deep-rooted history with New York City and the significance of this commemorative event.

The U.S. Navy is inviting navies, maritime forces, and coast guards from over 130 Allied and partner nations to participate. Numerous warships, aircraft, and delegations will convene in the Port of New York and New Jersey. Ships and vessels will be stationed from the Verrazano Bridge to the George Washington Bridge.

An expansive aerial review and flyover will feature various military, historic, and other aircraft. This will be one of the largest gatherings of aircraft for such a review in recent decades. Additionally, the International Parade of Tall Ships will coincide with INR 250, showcasing Tall Sailing ships from around the world.

In conjunction with INR 250, Sail4th 250 will host an international gathering of Tall Ships on July 4, 2026. This parade will include 30 international Tall Ships and hundreds of other vessels, forming an impressive “Parade of Sail” from the Verrazzano Bridge to the George Washington Bridge.

Chris O’Brien, President of Sail4th 250, expressed pride in collaborating with the U.S. Navy and other partners to continue the tradition of bringing international Tall Ships to New York Harbor for this milestone event.

The International Parade of Tall Ships traces its origins back to the 1964 World’s Fair. For the 250th celebration, Sail4th 250 is set to create a maritime spectacle not seen since the millennium celebration in 2000.

Mayor Adams and Secretary Del Toro also announced that the annual Fleet Week New York will shift to coincide with INR 250. The lineup will include the Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, large-scale outreach events, and public engagements throughout the Tri-State area.

INR 250 will not only celebrate the modern U.S. Navy’s capabilities but also underscore its pivotal role in global maritime security. By gathering navies and maritime forces from around the globe, INR 250 aims to demonstrate the United States’ commitment to international cooperation.

INR 250 will be the seventh international naval review hosted in the United States and the fourth in New York and New Jersey. This event will kick off a series of engagements involving the U.S. Navy and international Tall Ships, including port visits in cities like New Orleans, Norfolk, Baltimore, and Boston.
