Top Military Leaders Forge Robust Indo-Pacific Alliances in Guam and Hawaii Visit
Mancinelli, the Acting Under Secretary of the Navy, concluded his inaugural official visit to Guam and Hawaii, where discussions centered on regional security, military infrastructure, and asserting American interests. “The United States has always been and remains a Pacific power,” affirmed Mancinelli, emphasizing the strategic significance of Guam.
In Guam, Mancinelli and his team met with local leaders, including Governor Lou Leon Guerrero and Lt. Governor Joshua Tenorio, to underline their gratitude for local support. “Together, we are committed to ensuring that Guam remains secure and resilient,” he stated, reaffirming military partnerships with the island.
Governor Guerrero reiterated her administration’s focus on balancing community needs with national security mandates amidst the growing military presence. Tenorio elaborated on the role of the Defense Department as crucial allies in seeking federal resources.
Mancinelli underscored the importance of collaboration, stating, “We won’t do anything about Guam without Guam,” pointing out the shared responsibility in military developments on the island.
Apart from local meetings, Mancinelli engaged with military commanders in Hawaii, reviewing regional defense capabilities and infrastructure updates, including the Navy’s AUKUS involvement. Mancinelli noted the pivotal role of the trilateral security partnership in enhancing maritime capabilities.
The official visit highlighted Guam’s strategic importance in Indo-Pacific defense and solidified ongoing military partnerships essential for regional stability.
