Navy Relieves Naval Information Warfare Training Group San Diego Commanding Officer

In a notable leadership change within the U.S. Navy, Capt. Meredith Schley has removed Cmdr. Cayanne McFarlane from her position as the commanding officer of the Naval Information Warfare Training Group (NITWG) in San Diego. This decision underscores the Navy’s commitment to uphold its rigorous standards for commanding officers.

NITWG San Diego is a division under the Naval Information Warfare Training Group, headquartered in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The group is integral to maintaining naval information warfare capabilities.

Cmdr. Dominic DiMaggio, previously the executive officer at Fleet Weather Center, San Diego, has stepped in as the interim commanding officer of NITWG San Diego. DiMaggio will hold this role until a permanent leader is appointed.

Cmdr. McFarlane initially took command of NITWG San Diego in April 2023. She has since been reassigned to Naval Information Forces pending further developments.
