For the first time, American Samoa, Anchorage, Huntsville, Wichita Falls, Hartford, and Eugene will be part of Navy Week, marking a significant chapter in the program’s 20-year history. Furthermore, these weeks will intersect with the Navy’s 250th birthday, featuring global leadership outreach, multilateral exercises, and community engagements.
“We are thrilled to visit these 15 locations next year to showcase the unique ways our Navy operates from seabed to space,” Cmdr. Julie Holland, director of NAVCO, stated. The initiative targets cities lacking a strong naval presence, offering Americans an opportunity to engage with the Navy community and understand its mission in maintaining national security and prosperity.
Navy Weeks typically feature 50-100 Sailors engaging in roughly 75 community events, including volunteering and educational visits. The presence of the U.S. Navy Band and the U.S. Navy Ceremonial Guard adds a musical and ceremonial flair to these weeks.
Lt. Cmdr. Miranda Williams highlighted the educational value of these events, noting that Navy Weeks facilitate public discourse on the Navy’s crucial role in national defense. With highly trained personnel and advanced technology, the Navy stands ready to safeguard American interests globally.
Since its inception, NAVCO has successfully executed over 300 Navy Weeks across 95 U.S. markets, leaving a lasting impression wherever they go.
