U.S. Naval Chief Adm. Franchetti Engages in Strategic Talks with Nigeria’s Navy Leader Vice Adm. Ogalla

During the 14th Trans-Regional Seapower Symposium held in Venice, Italy, Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Lisa Franchetti and Chief of Naval Staff of Nigeria Vice Adm. Emmanuel Ogalla engaged in formal discussions.
The bilateral meeting covered the longstanding partnership between their respective navies. They explored how U.S. Navy ship visits and collaborative actions underscore a joint commitment to stability and security within the region. Enhancing maritime cooperation and countering piracy in the Gulf of Guinea were focal points of their conversation.
Adm. Franchetti expressed gratitude to Vice Adm. Ogalla for Nigeria’s leadership role in maritime cooperation, particularly highlighted during exercises such as Obangame Express.
The meeting also addressed Adm. Franchetti’s newly-released strategic guidance, the Navigation Plan for America’s Warfighting Navy. Emphasis was placed on advancing mutual interests by enhancing Maritime Operations Centers and integrating Robotic and Autonomous Systems for improved maritime domain awareness.
