SECNAV Del Toro Engages in Strategic Talks with Denmark’s Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen

Copenhagen, DENMARK – On August 13, Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro held a significant meeting with Troels Lund Poulsen, the Minister of Defense of the Kingdom of Denmark.

The discussions included U.S. Ambassador to Denmark, Alan Leventhal, emphasizing the robust alliance between the two nations. Key discussion points involved enhancing naval interoperability and examining regional security matters from the Arctic Circle to the Baltic Sea.

Secretary Del Toro commended Denmark for its key role in NATO, its steadfast support for Ukraine, and its proactive stance on Arctic security. He expressed gratitude to Minister Poulsen for backing recent visits by U.S. Navy submarines and destroyers to Danish ports and participation of the Royal Danish Navy in exercises like Arctic Edge, BALTOPS, and RIMPAC.

During his visit to Copenhagen, Secretary Del Toro also engaged with Chief of Danish Defense General Michael W. Hyldgaard and Rear Adm. Henrik Ryberg, Chief of the Royal Danish Navy, aboard the frigate HDMS Absalon.
