Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) Develops Requirements for Cargo Ships Carrying Industrial Personnel

The Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) has introduced a new set of requirements for cargo ships carrying industrial personnel, in line with the International Code of Safety for Ships Carrying Industrial Personnel (IP Code). This initiative aims to enhance safety standards for personnel engaged in production activities at sea, whether on board other ships or offshore facilities.

The requirements are detailed in a newly published Section 34 within Part XVII of the “Rules for the Classification and Construction of Sea-Going Ships.” This section, titled “Distinguishing Marks and Descriptive Notations in the Class Notation Specifying Structural and Operational Particulars of Ships,” is now available under the “RS Publications” section on the official RS website.

About Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS):

Established in 1913, RS is a globally recognized classification society that sets safety standards for maritime activities. RS’s services include reviewing technical documentation, surveying new and in-service ships, issuing certificates for vessels and offshore facilities, and ensuring compliance with international conventions. Additionally, RS provides services for the declaration and certification of dangerous goods and bulk cargoes, contributing significantly to the maritime industry’s safety and environmental standards.
