Navy Unveils Future USS Beloit in Grand Commissioning Ceremony

The U.S. Navy is preparing to welcome a new addition to its fleet with the commissioning of the USS Beloit (LCS 29). This marks the first time a naval ship will bear the name of Beloit, Wisconsin, paying tribute to the community’s significant contributions to the Navy. Notably, the Fairbanks Morse plant in Beloit has been instrumental in constructing engines for various naval ships and submarines, including those on the USS Beloit.

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Marcia M. Anderson, the ship’s sponsor, will lead the traditional ceremony by giving the order, “Man our ship and bring her to life!” This act will officially integrate the Beloit into active service, marked by the raising of the commissioning pennant.

After the ceremony, the USS Beloit will set sail from Milwaukee, marking the beginning of its journey to its homeport at Naval Station Mayport in Jacksonville, Florida.
