Combined Maritime Forces Welcomes Argentina as its 46th Member

MANAMA, Bahrain – Argentina has officially joined the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF), expanding the world’s largest maritime security coalition to 46 members as of September 4th.

“The Argentine Navy has proudly served for over 200 years,” stated U.S. Navy Vice Adm. George Wikoff, CMF commander. “Argentina’s maritime tradition will significantly bolster regional partnerships and enhance maritime security. The CMF team looks forward to being ‘ready together’ with our Argentinian partners.”

The CMF consists of a central headquarters and five combined task forces (CTFs), each with specific mandates: to defeat terrorism, prevent piracy, foster regional cooperation, and ensure maritime safety. This robust coalition upholds international maritime laws over 3.2 million square miles of pivotal shipping routes.

Task Force CTF 150 focuses on Gulf of Oman and Arabian Sea security. CTF 151 leads anti-piracy operations. Arabian Gulf security is managed by CTF 152. CTF 153 secures the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandeb, and western Gulf of Aden; while CTF 154 specializes in regional maritime security training.
