AE1 Lamoreau: Shaping Future Leaders at Navy SERE School
For Aviation Electrician’s Mate 1st Class Trevor Lamoreau, joining the Navy was a life-changing decision. Inspired by his grandfather’s long service with the P-3 Orion Airframe, Lamoreau enlisted in 2012 with dreams of crafting his own legacy.
“Listening to my grandfather’s Navy stories opened my eyes to a world of possibilities,” Lamoreau stated. “I aimed to carve out my own path and create my own adventures.”
Lamoreau’s naval journey began at the Recruit Training Command (RTC), which ingrained him with discipline and essential skills for Naval Aviation. Following this, he attended the Naval Aviation Technical Training Center, where further training prepared him for his role with Strike Fighter Squadron VFA-22 on the USS Carl Vinson under Central Command operations.
“The NETC’s rigorous training offered me the adaptability needed to overcome challenges,” Lamoreau shared. His career saw a significant shift in 2016 when he became an Aviation Electrician’s Mate, a transition supported by comprehensive training that paved the way for a leadership role with VFA-122.
In 2018, Lamoreau reached new heights by joining the prestigious Blue Angels. During his three-year tenure, he participated in numerous airshows and earned a promotion to petty officer 1st class.
“Being part of the Blue Angels was an incredible experience,” he said. “It was a privilege to display the Navy’s capabilities and the value of our training.”
Currently, Lamoreau serves as the leading petty officer at the Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) school in San Diego. SERE, part of the NETC, equips service members with crucial survival skills.
“SERE training bolsters fleet readiness by fostering confidence and resilience,” Lamoreau explained. His role as an instructor allows him to leverage his deep fleet knowledge and mentor upcoming service members.
Beyond his professional life, Lamoreau is a dedicated family man. The Navy has taught him vital lessons in balancing his duties as a Sailor with his responsibilities as a husband and father.
“The Navy’s influence extends to making me a more thoughtful leader at work and home,” Lamoreau reflected.
Lamoreau’s journey is a testament to NETC’s “Street to Fleet” philosophy. His progression from recruit to SERE instructor showcases how the Navy’s top-notch training programs shape fleet-ready leaders.
