Revolutionary Cyber Course Launches at IWTC Corry Station

PENSACOLA, Fla. – This summer, Information Warfare Training Command Corry Station launched a pioneering course to bolster cyber defense across the military.

The Cyber Defense Analyst-Host Course equips joint cyber analysts with essential techniques for defensive cyber and cyber-protection team operations. Participants included service members ranging from E-1 to E-3, along with Department of Defense, Coast Guard, and government civilians.

The pilot course saw the attendance of seventeen personnel, held from June 3 to August 2 at Naval Air Station Pensacola’s Corry Station.

“This course is transformative for the information warfare community. It alleviates the training load on cyber work centers, delivering ready and skilled Sailors,” stated Chief Petty Officer Nicholas Culver, Center for Information Warfare Training curriculum manager. “Graduates possess a foundational level of competency that would typically require years of experience.”

Training includes risk management, threat mitigation, architecture and traffic analysis, vulnerability assessments, security audits, threat monitoring, countermeasure development, and media and malware analysis.

Chief Petty Officer Quintin Mengerink, a cyber warfare technician and Cyber Mission Force “C” school’s leading chief petty officer, highlighted the course’s strategic impact. “The course is laying the groundwork for defensive cyber operations within the joint cyber terrain,” he noted.

The next iteration of the Cyber Defense Analyst-Host Course is scheduled to begin on October 1 at Corry Station.
