U.S. Navy’s Top Admiral Lisa Franchetti Discusses Strategic Collaboration with Argentina’s Naval Chief Vice Adm. Carlos Allievi
Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Lisa Franchetti met with Argentine Chief of Navy General Staff Vice Adm. Carlos María Allievi for a formal bilateral engagement on September 23 during the Inter-American Naval Conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The leaders explored avenues to strengthen their naval partnership, emphasizing a mutual dedication to maritime security. Franchetti congratulated Allievi on the Argentine Navy’s significant contribution to UNITAS LXV and Southern Seas 2024 exercises, discussing future collaboration prospects.
Adm. Franchetti highlighted Argentina’s potential to boost regional and bilateral partnerships and maritime security by joining the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF). She mentioned that CMF enhances members’ collective knowledge and capabilities.
Discussions also covered Argentina’s recent fleet modernization efforts. Franchetti encouraged Argentine participation in future Hybrid Fleet Campaigns, which are led by U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command and aim to operationalize new capabilities.
Franchetti underscored the strong partnership between the U.S. and Argentina, noting their military-to-military ties are grounded in shared values and interests.
