Top Naval Leaders Adm. Franchetti and Adm. Tatlıoğlu Discuss Strategic Partnership

Adm. Lisa Franchetti, Chief of Naval Operations, welcomed her Turkish counterpart Adm. Ercüment Tatlıoğlu to Washington D.C. on November 6. The two naval leaders convened at the Washington Navy Yard for a Full Honors Arrival Ceremony, marking a significant moment in U.S.-Türkiye military relations.

Throughout their meetings, the admirals emphasized their countries’ enduring alliance, crucial to regional stability. Discussions highlighted the strategic importance of defense modernization, a priority echoed by Franchetti in her remarks on Türkiye’s burgeoning defense industry.

A key focus of their dialogue was the Black Sea, addressing de-mining efforts as a regional security challenge. Both navies reaffirmed their commitment to interoperability, a sentiment bolstered by ongoing collaborative exercises like SEABREEZE-24 and BALTOPS-24.
