This October, the Department of the Navy (DON) is emphasizing the theme “Access to Good Jobs for All” as part of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). This initiative underscores the importance of disability inclusion in the workplace.

Robert Hogue, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Manpower and Reserve Affairs and Chair of the DON IWD Champions Council, stated, “National Disability Employment Awareness Month is an important opportunity for us to celebrate the talents and skills that individuals with disabilities bring to our workforce.” He emphasized the campaign’s focus on leveraging the abilities of all team members, ensuring equal opportunity for meaningful contributions regardless of disability.

The DON continues to cultivate an environment that honors the contributions of all, including those with disabilities. One of these efforts includes the establishment of the IWD Champions Council. This council comprises Senior Executive leaders dedicated to enhancing recruitment strategies and fostering a more accessible workplace with necessary accommodations to facilitate successful employment for individuals with disabilities.
