The U.S. Navy is set to commission the USS Beloit (LCS 29), marking a first for the town of Beloit, Wisconsin, as the namesake for a naval ship. This gesture recognizes the invaluable contributions the people of Beloit have made, particularly through the Fairbanks Morse plant, which has supplied engines for numerous Navy vessels and submarines, including this one.

During the commissioning ceremony, retired Army Maj. Gen. Marcia M. Anderson, acting as the ship’s sponsor, will partake in the tradition by commanding to “Man our ship and bring her to life!” This signals the hoisting of the commissioning pennant, officially initiating the Beloit into naval service.

After the ceremony, the USS Beloit will navigate to its designated homeport at Naval Station Mayport in Jacksonville, Florida. Those interested in the commissioning event can view the proceedings live at 9:45 a.m. CST on November 23 via the webcast link available at www.dvidshub.net/webcast/35146.

The LCS 29 is designed for agility and optimal crew efficiency. It serves both near-shore and open-ocean operations, prepared to face 21st-century threats in coastal regions. The Littoral Combat Ships establish integration with joint and unmanned teams to support global missions focused on maritime security, forward presence, and deterrence.

The Commander, Naval Surface Forces Pacific (CNSP), is dedicated to ensuring that its Surface Force is thoroughly prepared. The goal is to deliver effective naval power for sea control and power projection.
