Rear Admiral Christopher Alexander, Commander of Carrier Strike Group 9, has made a decisive leadership change within the Navy’s ranks. Cmdr. Charles Diehl has been relieved of his duties as the commanding officer of VAW-115. This decision is consistent with the Navy’s commitment to uphold the highest standards of accountability and responsibility among its commanding officers.

Cmdr. Diehl, who assumed command of VAW-115 in May 2024, has been temporarily reassigned to the Airborne Command & Control Logistics Wing stationed in Point Mugu, California. In his place, Cmdr. Randall Fields, previously in command of VAW-116, will serve temporarily as the commanding officer of VAW-115.

Cmdr. Fields brings experience and past leadership success which will be crucial during this transitional period. The Navy continues to emphasize the importance of its leadership holding to their crucial roles with integrity and efficacy.
