President Biden signed the Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act of 2022 into law on August 10, 2022. This legislation has a significant component, the Camp Lejeune Justice Act (CLJA), aimed at assisting individuals affected by contaminated water at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

The CLJA provides an avenue for victims, including veterans, to file new claims with the Department of the Navy. These claims must be submitted by August 10, 2024, marking a two-year deadline since the CLJA’s enactment.

To file a CLJA claim, individuals can:

1. Utilize the Claims Management Portal, following online instructions for a new submission.

2. Download a claim form, fill it out, and submit it via email or postal mail. Completed forms can be emailed to clclaims@us.navy.mil or mailed to the address specified on the form by the stipulated deadline.

The Department of the Navy emphasizes that personal information will never be requested via email or phone. There is no fee for accessing the portal or filing a claim. Legal assistance is not mandatory, though the Navy cannot provide legal guidance.

For detailed eligibility criteria and additional FAQs, visit the official CLJA website at www.navy.mil/clja or contact the Camp Lejeune Claims Unit at CLClaims@us.navy.mil or (757) 241-6020.
