MCM BLACK SEA Task Group Conducts Exercises and Port Visit in Bulgaria

As part of the Mine Countermeasures Black Sea (MCM BLACK SEA) Task Group, the Turkish Navy’s fuel supply ship TCG YÜZBAŞI GÜNGÖR DURMUŞ and minehunter TCG AKÇAY conducted exercises on July 4, 2024, alongside Romania’s ROS SLT. ALEXANDRU AXENTE mine sweeper and Bulgaria’s BGS STRUMA minehunter.

Following the exercises, TCG YÜZBAŞI GÜNGÖR DURMUŞ and TCG AKÇAY made a port visit to Burgas, Bulgaria, on July 6, 2024. During this visit, the Turkish Consul General in Burgas, Tolga Orkun, visited the flagship.

The port visit also featured press activities for the “BREEZE 2024 Exercise” attended by Bulgarian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Kiril Yordanov, Bulgarian Navy Flotilla Commander Brigadier General Velko Velkov, and Turkish Navy Captain Yusuf Karagülle.
