Chief of Naval Operations Spokesperson Cmdr. Desiree Frame provided the following readout:

Adm. Lisa Franchetti hosted Rear Adm. Oliver Berdal, Chief of the Royal Norwegian Navy, at the Pentagon for an official visit on Aug. 6.

Franchetti emphasized the Navy’s unwavering commitment to Norway, lauding its role as a vital strategic ally and co-founder of NATO.

During Berdal’s visit, they discussed the strength of the U.S.-Norway naval alliance. The focus was on enhancing interoperability, integration, and combined capabilities to address shared Arctic and High North challenges.

Franchetti underscored the importance of multinational exercises in Norway, highlighting events like Dynamic Mongoose, Nordic Response, and NATO Steadfast Defender. Both admiral and rear admiral expressed a strong commitment to improving warfighting integration and exploring further cooperation avenues.

This meeting marked the first official engagement between Franchetti and Berdal as Heads of Navy.
