VENICE, Italy – The 14th Trans-Regional Seapower Symposium witnessed a significant bilateral meeting today between Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Lisa Franchetti and Rear Adm. Henrik Ryberg of the Royal Danish Navy. The symposium, held in the historic city of Venice, brought together naval leaders from more than 50 nations to deliberate on maritime challenges.

Adm. Franchetti and Rear Adm. Ryberg discussed advancing maritime security across key regions, including the High North, Baltic Sea, Red Sea, and the Atlantic. Highlighting the importance of mutual defense, they focused on enhancing interoperability, particularly in anti-submarine warfare.

Adm. Franchetti expressed her appreciation for Denmark’s support during recent U.S. Navy submarine and destroyer visits to Danish ports. She also acknowledged the Royal Danish Navy’s participation in multilateral exercises such as Steadfast Defender, underscoring the importance of joint operational exercises.

The CNO shared insights from her new strategic guidance, the Navigation Plan for America’s Warfighting Navy, which emphasizes capability advancement and an integrated warfighting approach. The two leaders recognized the value of future training exchanges to bolster joint defense readiness.

As founders of NATO, the United States and Denmark highlighted the vitality of their alliance in maintaining security and stability both in Europe and globally. This partnership continues to serve as a cornerstone for military collaboration and strategic alignment.
