U.S. Navy Leaders Observe Joint Task Force Southern Guard Operations

The U.S. military is actively engaged in operations at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay as directed by the President. This initiative involves the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Defense (DOD) working collaboratively to manage illegal aliens holding operations. The U.S. Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM) has established Joint Task Force Southern Guard to spearhead this mission.

Commander Capt. Michael Stephen of Naval Station Guantanamo Bay emphasized the base’s commitment to this operation. “Our infrastructure and resources are rapidly advancing to meet mission requirements,” stated Stephen, reflecting on the urgent adaptations and enhancements undertaken by his team.

The synergy within the base and across joint forces has been commendable, according to Stephen. “Every member is fully engaged, contributing to swift problem-solving and preparedness,” he remarked, highlighting the rapid progress made thus far.

Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, dating back to its establishment in 1903, is pivotal in maintaining a U.S. presence in the Caribbean. It lies within USSOUTHCOM’s Area of Responsibility, with tasks involving maritime command orchestrated by the U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S. Fourth Fleet. Furthermore, U.S. Navy Region Southeast governs and supports this and 17 other Navy bases.

Rear Adm. Sardiello praised the personnel’s response to the mission. “This operation demonstrates the integration and deployment of combat power to uphold regional security and U.S. interests,” remarked Sardiello.

Military personnel and contractors are orchestrating substantial operations to accommodate illegal aliens. The efforts include creating secure housing and essential services to comply with the Presidential directive. Plans to expand operations to host up to 30,000 individuals are in the pipeline.

Guantanamo Bay plays a strategic role in implementing national immigration policies and sustaining U.S. defense goals. Its contributions to regional alliances and maritime freedom remain fundamental.
