NAS JRB Fort Worth to Support Border Security Efforts

In a significant move to enhance border security, NAS JRB Fort Worth is facilitating the deployment of the Texas Tactical Border Force to the Rio Grande Valley. On January 27, 2025, 400 troops from the Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston areas were mobilized. Utilizing four Chinook helicopters and C-130J aircraft, the operation involved the Texas Air National Guard’s 136th Airlift Wing.

This military maneuver forms a crucial element of Governor Abbott’s Operation Lone Star, aiming to strengthen the U.S. border with Mexico. According to Gov. Abbott’s office, this initiative enhances cooperation between state and federal agencies in managing border challenges.

Lt. Cmdr. William Husky, deputy operations officer at NAS JRB Fort Worth, elaborated on the logistics of the deployment. “Our base played a strategic role, facilitating the transport of 200 Texas National Guard personnel to the southern border,” Husky confirmed, emphasizing compliance with Gov. Abbott’s directive.

This deployment underscores ongoing efforts to manage the border situation effectively. It highlights state and federal collaboration aimed at securing American communities.

NAS JRB Fort Worth, renowned for its dual mission as an aircrew training hub and aviation ground support center, continues to activate its facilities for national defense missions. Known for excellence in airlift, aerial refueling, and global mobility, the base remains a pivotal asset in national security strategies.
