PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Center for Information Warfare Training (CIWT) has wrapped up a comprehensive update to its Cyber Warfare Technician (CWT) Rate Training Manual, dubbed NAVEDTRA 15025A, under the Naval Education and Training Command.
The yearlong overhaul aimed to modernize the manual, enhancing its usability and interaction through new technologies like augmented reality. This initiative included updated courseware and fresh visual aids, reflecting the CIWT’s commitment to innovation in training.
Moreover, CIWT incorporated a flash card system in its Knowledge Port app, allowing users to create and review notes conveniently. The app now hosts additional resources linking to the Navy Cyber Workforce Program and the United Services Military Apprenticeship Program.
Sam Kelley from CIWT emphasized that these upgrades strengthen CWT Sailors’ capacity to lead and apply diverse cyber and information warfare strategies, ensuring seamless naval operations and tactical superiority.
Available on Navy e-learning platforms, the enhanced manual represents collaboration between contracted specialists and Navy experts, focused on advancing the professional readiness of information warfare personnel.
CIWT Commanding Officer Capt. Sarah Sherwood noted the organization’s dedication to preparing sailors for real-world information warfare challenges. This effort aligns with the Navy’s broader mission to maintain dominance in technological and cyber domains.
The revised manual includes new chapters introducing Language, Regional Expertise, and Culture content, contributing to the Navy’s “whole Sailor concept.” Such content is essential for promoting awareness and critical thinking within the force.
Neil Watson, CIWT’s RTM/Non-Resident Training Course Manager, stressed the importance of these updates for the evolving roles of information warfare professionals, ensuring their skillsets remain current and relevant.
The manual serves multiple purposes, from aiding Sailors’ advancement exams to bolstering their career development. Chief Petty Officer Margarita Baez highlighted its value as a self-paced learning tool for all levels of Navy personnel.
Collectively, these advancements meet crucial operational and professional development needs within the Navy, underscoring the CIWT’s role in producing mission-ready warfighters.
