Chief of Naval Operations Spokesperson Cmdr. Desiree Frame reported a key meeting today involving high-level naval officials.

Adm. Lisa Franchetti, Chief of Naval Operations, convened with Italian Navy Chief Adm. Enrico Credendino on the occasion of the 14th Trans-Regional Seapower Symposium in Venice, Italy.

The discussions focused on enhancing naval collaboration between the United States and Italy. Core topics included strengthening interoperability, joint security efforts in the Middle East, and commitments in European and Pacific regions. Both emphasized the critical role of the NATO alliance in maintaining global security.

Adm. Franchetti expressed gratitude to Adm. Credendino for hosting the symposium and actively participating in the BALTOPS exercise. She also acknowledged Italy’s commitment to joint operations, highlighting the recent Multi-Large Deck Event involving the USS Abraham Lincoln and ITS Cavour Carrier Strike Groups.

Italy remains a pivotal NATO ally and a global security leader. The long-standing partnership with the U.S. continues to be significant. The two admirals met previously in January 2024 at the Paris Naval Conference.
